Mbappe, 24 years old, doesn’t lose to anyone, only Neymar

With a double against the Netherlands, Mbappe had 42 goals in 72 matches, officially surpassing the legendary Michel Platini to become the 4th greatest striker in the history of the French national team. And, in the list of goals scored for the national team at the age of 24 years and 10 months, Mbappe ranked 2nd, only behind Neymar – scoring 50 goals for the Brazilian team at the same age.

Luis Suarez ranks 3rd on the list with 30 goals. While Messi and Ronaldo ranked the last two positions in the Top 5 with 22 and 20 goals respectively. In addition, to achieve 42 goals for the Albiceleste, “King Leo” needed 89 matches and was 27 years old; while CR7 needs 106 matches and is 28 years old.

In the match against the Netherlands, midfielder Virgil van Dijk was assigned to closely guard Mbappe, but the 32-year-old could not block the most dangerous detonator on Les Bleus’ field. After the match, Van Dijk did not hesitate to praise his opponent.

“I think there were many moments where we could have stopped Kylian Mbappe. But in the end he still scored 2 goals and was voted the best player of the match. Honestly, with Mbappe is impossible. He has so many solutions, so many ways to escape our clinging.

Just look at the way he jerks back and forth until you’re dizzy so you can’t keep up. Even if you’re in the sky, Mbappe will still escape to make a difference. We tried to cover for each other. But unfortunately, sometimes in football players like Mbappe can still make a difference in that situation,” Van Dijk said.
