Being the brightest star in the win over Brentford and often shining in the Scotland shirt, Mctominay was not used much by coach Ten Hag and was even almost sold to West Ham last summer.
Perhaps because McTominay has not really excelled in any specific position in the team when the attacking midfielder position already has Eriksen and the holding midfielder has difficulty surpassing Casemiro last season.
McTominay once interviewed Viaplay about his playing position:
“When I was younger I was an attacking midfielder, then I became more of a defensive midfielder. But I like to do both, I like to get into the box but I also like to help my teammates defend.
“For me, I have to keep doing that, I know I can score more goals and assists in the game.”
Making his mark in the victory over Brentford and especially the two seniors Eriksen and Casemiro who are old and have lost form, the opportunity for McTominay in the coming matches is clear. Hopefully he will continue to shine and bring victory to MU.
