You won’t expect a Mercedes AMG to be tearing past dangerous waves in Portugal’s Nazare North Canyon, but pro surfer Garrett McNamara, sponsored by Mercedes Benz, took to the waves on his most recent ride from the German carmaker; confused? In collaboration with Mercedes, McNamara designed a surfboard named the “Silver Arrow of the Seas” especially for the well-known surfer. The surfboard features a telemetry system, designed by Mercedes Benz’s AMG wing engineers and designers in Stuttgart. The device includes a transmitter inside Garrett’s wetsuit that measures his surfing performance. A limited edition of four unique surfboards has been created by Mercedes and the 46-year-old Hawaiian surfer; nevertheless, it appears that McNamara is the only owner of the four models.
