Newcastle vs PSG preview: The battle of the rich

Host Newcastle is in great form, unbeaten in the last 5 matches, scoring 12 goals without conceding any goals. However, the Premier League is different from the Champions League.

If the Magpies win all four recent matches in domestic tournaments without conceding a goal, they will face many difficulties at Europe’s most prestigious playground with a goalless draw against Milan in the first leg—the first match of the group stage.

On the San Riro field, only luck and the excellence of the defense can help Newcastle stand firm against the attacking power of Milan. Although not as highly appreciated as last season (reaching the semi-finals), the red and black striped Milan team still showed the maturity and position of a big team in the Champions League.

Therefore, the English team only had 1 shot on target (Milan had 8 shots) out of only 6 shots towards the opponent’s goal (Milan shot 25 times), only receiving 1 corner kick ( Milan was 8) and Nick Pope had to save 8 times (Mike Maignan only had to show his talent once).

Analyzing the match at San Siro in the first match to see the reality, that is, if they enter the Champions League, Newcastle will still be just an apprentice team. Although PSG is not highly appreciated without Lionel Messi, Neymar or Marco Verratti, PSG still gently won 2-0 against Dortmund in the first match to gain a certain advantage in the group of death.

Welcoming PSG, Newcastle was without the services of midfielder Sven Botman, midfielders Joseph Willock, Harvey Barnes and striker Callum Wilson due to injury. As for the rest, coach Eddie Howe is very confident when affirming in a recent press conference that his team can completely block PSG’s stars, especially super striker Kylian Mbappe.

Meanwhile, coach Luis Enrique still has to ignore the services of goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who is recovering after suffering a serious head injury due to an accident falling from a horse. Left back Nuno Mendes and midfielder Marco Asensio are still unable to return due to injury.

Although it is not yet possible to have the strongest squad, with what it has in hand, Lucho can completely arrange a formidable force to seek a second consecutive victory in the group known as death.
