Pep Guardiola informs Jack Grealish that maintaining his position at Man City will be difficult

Although Jack Grealish has returned from injury, it’s not a given that he’ll immediately rejoin Manchester City’s starting lineup.

Last Saturday, Grealish made his comeback from the sidelines by starting the Carabao Cup against Newcastle after replacing an injured player on the field against Nottingham Forest. Grealish, a crucial player at the conclusion of the previous season, started this one as the top option on the wings, but Jeremy Doku’s arrival has given the winger some new competition.

This season, Doku has thrilled supporters with his performances. He scored a fantastic goal against West Ham and looked impressive coming off the bench as City pursued a goal against Newcastle.

Guardiola also questioned Grealish over whether he really had competition for the left-wing position, saying that the man who is playing at his best will get more starts.

“Jeremy can play right as well,” stated Guardiola. “Who will participate more? Whoever performs better wins. It’s easy.

“Phil is also a left-handed player. The player who feels better and performs better will get more opportunities to play.
