Raheem Sterling playfully admitted his lack of artistic talent as he visited the London Portrait Gallery for an event organized by his foundation. The renowned winger, known for his skills on the football pitch, accompanied a group of children from his hometown of Brent in North London. The 28-year-old footballer, who was not selected for England’s October internationals against Australia and Italy, was determined to use his time productively.

When asked about the impact of his non-selection on his mindset ahead of Arsenal’s match at Stamford Bridge, Sterling responded, “Mentally, I’m in a good place. Life is fantastic, and I have a wonderful family, so what more could I ask for?” In order to earn a recall to Gareth Southgate’s squad, the England international with 82 caps knows that performing well for Chelsea is crucial. In their previous game against Burnley, Sterling won a penalty, scored a goal, and provided an assist in Chelsea’s 4-1 victory.

When questioned about his aspirations to make the England squad for Euro 2024 in November, Sterling affirmed, “Of course, England is still incredibly important to me. It’s a significant year for the national team considering the talent we possess. But like any other day, I will continue working hard, pushing myself forward, and accepting whatever fate has in store.”

Fresh from an intense week of training under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, who conducts double training sessions, Sterling successfully managed to balance his football commitments with his foundation’s activities. The foundation organized a photography exhibition, showcasing the work of children from Brent, which Sterling attended. During the event, Sterling met with the foundation’s board, delivered a speech to the children, and explored the gallery.

Sterling explained that his inspiration for establishing the foundation stemmed from living near the iconic Wembley Stadium arch and wanting to encourage children from similar backgrounds to dream big and pursue their aspirations. “That’s the whole purpose of creating this foundation,” he said. “It’s rooted in the small inspiration I derived from the arch near my home, and I aim to extend that inspiration to different communities in North West London.”

It’s a bit nostalgic for me. It brings back memories of that time. My belief has always been about providing diverse opportunities. Even if it doesn’t directly benefit everyone, the main focus is to guide young individuals as they transition into adulthood.

“For me, it’s about establishing a connection with my younger self, reflecting on my past, and offering similar opportunities in environments like this.

“As long as we can continue doing that, I believe it can be truly advantageous, and that’s what matters the most.
