Real Madrid has identified Man City striker Julian Alvarez as its top transfer target if the Mbappe deal fails

Real Madrid has identified Man City striker Julian Alvarez as its top transfer target.

According to an article published in the Spanish publication Fichajes, Real Madrid is reportedly interested in luring Julian Alvarez to the Bernabeu during the upcoming summer. The Argentine striker has been singled out by “White Vulture” as the player they are most interested in signing for the center forward position to replace the vacuum left by Karim Benzema.

It is anticipated that Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG and transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. However, the Royal Spanish club does not yet have a center forward because the French striker has a preference for playing on the left wing rather than in the center of the field.

Carlo Ancelotti, the team’s head coach, has primarily employed Vinicius and Rodrygo as attackers this season, despite the fact that this is not each player’s natural position. Instead, Jude Bellingham has been playing the number 10 position, which is just above the three-man midfield. The Spanish striker Brahim Diaz is another option in the last part of the field; yet, Diaz is not a conventional striker either.

Erling Haaland, Alvarez’s colleague at Manchester City, has been the subject of Real Madrid’s interest for quite some time. Even the so-called “White Vultures” have their sights set on the Norwegian striker as their main priority. However, it seems highly improbable that Haaland would leave Man City the following summer, which is why Real Madrid has turned to Alvarez.

Alvarez moved to Manchester City from River Plate in July of last year, and in his first season with Pep Guardiola’s team, he made an immediate impact by scoring 17 goals and contributing five assists while appearing in 49 matches. Alvarez contributed to Argentina’s triumph at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by scoring four goals, which ultimately led to the country’s title.

The 23-year-old forward has maintained his form with a solid start to current season, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his first four games in the Premier League. Since the Etihad Stadium squad has a contract with the Argentinian international player until June 2028, the asking price is not likely to be very low.
