Reece James has reignited speculation about a potential transfer to Real Madrid with his recent message to Jude Bellingham. Despite Chelsea’s clear stance on the matter, the 23-year-old, whose contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2028, briefly found himself linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this summer, catching Carlo Ancelotti’s attention a couple of years ago.

 

James played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s recent successes under Thomas Tuchel, including winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. During their journey to becoming European champions, they overcame Real Madrid in the semi-finals, where James made a lasting impression.

 

A year later, the two teams faced each other again in the Champions League quarter-finals. Reports from Spain later suggested that Real Madrid’s scouts and technical staff were impressed by the English international, considering him a potential replacement for Dani Carvajal.
