According to Spanish publication Sport, Manchester United is plotting a summer 2019 raid on Bayer Leverkusen to acquire star forward Florian Wirtz.

In order to maximize their return on investment from his departure, the report alleges that Leverkusen have set a price tag of £74 million on the head of their 20-year-old star player for next summer. If Man Utd is serious about signing him, they will have to pay a hefty sum.

Sport, however, reports that he is also being eyed by Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Newcastle United. That means the Red Devils’ rivals will be extremely competitive in any negotiations over a possible contract with the German.

Man Utd would have pulled off a major coup if they had signed Wirtz, who is widely considered one of the world’s top young talents.
