After playing in every game this season and starting all but one, Levi Colwill was curiously left off of Chelsea’s matchday squad on Sunday’s trip to face Manchester City.

However, sources indicate that Colwill (and also Jude Bellingham) have withdrawn from the squad as a result of testing and medical checks undertaken by the England medical staff. Three others withdrew earlier in the week, and Cole Palmer replaced one of them. England has not called up any replacements for Colwill or Bellingham despite having already qualified for Euro 2024.

Gallagher, a 23-year-old midfielder for England, was “surprised” to even get the call for Qatar last year, but he has since become a regular for both his club and nation. While Gallagher has started every Premier League game for Chelsea this season, he is the clear favorite to start Friday night’s match against Malta at Wembley.

This is because of his remarkable determination and will to win, traits that were on full display during Sunday’s eight-goal thriller with Manchester City. Any doubts about Gallagher’s significance have been dispelled, and the player’s own sense of assurance has increased as a result.Gallagher stated, “Since being here, I’ve felt more at ease, more a member of the group, and maybe I can start to play more for England and be a greater part of the squad. Playing in every game for Chelsea this season and contributing to the team’s success has undoubtedly boosted my self-assurance, and I believe that it shows in my play.

Because I wasn’t playing much for Chelsea and we were going through a tough patch when the World Cup squad was announced, I made that comment in an interview. But I have faith in my skills and know that I can succeed. There were a lot of players coming and going from Chelsea this summer, but I spoke with the manager and he said I was a player he loved and that I was in his plans, so that made me happy.Of course, John and Frank (Lampard) those two individuals I’ve looked up to growing up being a Chelsea supporter and obviously them both being two Chelsea icons. They have experienced what it’s like to play for the club and know what’s expected of them.
