In an ongoing saga that seems likely to extend over the coming weeks, Dominik Szoboszlai became the latest Liverpool team member to face questions regarding the Mo Salah transfer rumors.
Szoboszlai hinted in his post-match comments that the topic had been discussed inside the dressing room, but it appears that Salah is eager to continue his journey at Anfield.
“You know it is football, everyone is talking. We are really happy that he has stayed,” the Hungarian international informed reporters on the world feed (via BBC Sport).
“We are, of course, speaking with each other, but he [Salah] wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us.
“We are really happy – we need people in the team like him.”
Both Szoboszlai and the influential No.11 were among the goals in a resounding victory for Liverpool against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
With the Saudi transfer window unusually remaining open until September 7th – a full six days after the English window closed – it is expected that this story will continue to develop in the coming days.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad had already tested Liverpool’s resolve with a late £150 million bid on transfer deadline day, but the club has stood firm, having already lost two key stars to the Middle East in the form of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Given the unavailability of a suitable replacement in the market, Liverpool’s position on the matter is unlikely to change, regardless of the size of any offer that may come their way.
