Take a closer look at PSG’s miserably loss to Newcastle

Superstar Kylian Mbappe played very poorly in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 1-4 loss to Newcastle away at St James’ Park in the second series of group F matches of UEFA Champions League…

For the first time playing at home in the Champions League after nearly 2 decades, Newcastle entered the match very confidently. But the away team PSG was the team that had the first dangerous opportunity in the 5th minute, when Mbappe passed the ball to Dembele and took a rather empty shot in the penalty area, but the ball missed goalkeeper Nick Pope (Newcastle)’s goal narrowly.

After that heart-wrenching phase, Newcastle played much better and created many good opportunities. In the 17th minute, midfielder Marquinhos (PSG) carelessly passed the ball in front of the home team’s penalty area, creating an opportunity for Newcastle to attack and ending with a kick from midfielder Miguel Almiron to open the score 1-0.

In particular, the world’s most expensive star Mbappe is completely blurred. According to statistics, Mbappe had 49 touches of the ball in this match, with 36 passes but no shots on target. That left PSG completely deadlocked in attack, while their defense had too many errors leading to consecutive losses.

As in the 39th minute, the confusion of the PSG defenders created an opportunity for Dan Burn to score a header to increase the score to 2-0. In the 50th minute, Sean Longstaff escaped quite empty to shoot a shot past goalkeeper Donnarumma to increase the score to 3-0.

Although Lucas Hernandez scored a header from close range to shorten the score to 1-3 in the 56th minute, that was all PSG could do, before they conceded another goal in the 90+1 minute after a Beautiful long-range shot by Fabian Schar.

Winning the final 4-1, Newcastle temporarily leads Group F with 4 points. Next ranked are PSG (3 points), AC Milan (2 points), Dortmund (1 point).
