Ten Hag had no excuses when Man United lost again at Old Trafford

Coach Erik ten Hag said there can be no excuses for M.U’s worst start in the Premier League after a 0-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in round 7 ending this morning (October 1).

Since the 1989 – 1990 season, M.U has not lost 4 of the first 7 matches in England’s top tournament. Joachim Andersen’s first half goal for Crystal Palace caused the “Red Devils” to experience the above disappointing achievement. Coach Ten Hag’s team was booed by the home crowd at Old Trafford during the match. And it is not excluded that the Dutch military leader may be fired.

“I can give you a reason but you will think it’s an excuse. There are no excuses. We have to be more consistent,” coach Ten Hag said after the match.M.U were unbeaten in 31 home matches before Brighton’s victory at Old Trafford two weeks ago. Even the “Red Devils” were lucky to escape with close wins at home against Wolves (1-0) and Nottingham Forest (3-2) earlier in the season. “We have to do better when we play at home. We have to show with our body language that Old Trafford is a fortress,” coach Ten Hag added.

In the loss to Crystal Palace, although there were 19 shots on target, M.U still encountered a lack of creativity in front of the opponent’s goal. Bruno Fernandes and two rookies Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount all missed their best opportunities.

On the contrary, Crystal Palace coach Roy Hodgson was happy to become the first Premier League manager to have 5 consecutive unbeaten matches at Old Trafford. The away team lost 0-3 to M.U when the two sides met midweek in the English League Cup but were shocked in the rematch. This victory brought Crystal Palace past M.U to rise to 9th place in the Premier League rankings.

In other matches, Man City’s perfect start in the Premier League this season was ruined after a shocking 1-2 loss to Wolves. The Manchester team have won their opening six matches in their quest to become the first team to win four consecutive English top-flight titles. In contrast, Wolves only won 4 points after the first 6 matches but stunned the English champions on the field at Molineux. Ruben Dias’s own goal helped home team Wolves take the lead. Although Man City equalized with a direct free kick from Julian Alvarez, Hwang Hee-chan shined to bring victory to Wolves.
