Trevoh Chalobah it’s time to go

Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah ‘expect to part ways’ in January — reportCertainly seems to be trending that way

Since the summer, this situation has been simmering just beneath the surface, and it is regrettably unlikely that it will alter. It is therefore unsurprising that Fabrizio Romano asserts Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah “both” anticipate “parting ways” in January. Or brand-new. However, I assume it is timely, as his tweet (is it still referred to as a “tweet”) has received more than 20,000 likes. Undoubtedly, Romano could continue to receive likes even if he were to tweet the phone book (do phone books still exist?). However, I digress.

In any case, Bayern Munich remain the club most frequently associated with Chalobah for their January divorce. The club have undergone significant changes to their sporting department in recent months (and may not be finished yet) in the wake of a mixed summer in the transfer market (including the signing of Harry Kane but the failure to finalize a couple of transfers on transfer deadline days). We can only hope that they are more sincere this time around for the sake of Chalobah.

Despite this, Mauricio Pochettino has made it a point to not shut down Chalobah just yet; the 24-year-old was reportedly observed returning to training “partially” recently, according to the official website. Due to our propensity for injuries and our dearth of defensive rotation thus far this season (Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill have appeared in nearly every minute), the Chalobah narrative could be significantly altered within the next couple of months.

Although I frequently reflect on Antonio Rüdiger’s situation in 2020-21, it is remarkable how he went from starting only two Premier League games prior to the turn of the year to being indispensible in our Champions League championship victory five months later. Obviously, circumstances are somewhat different in football; however, anything can happen.
