Upon the conclusion of the season, the Los Angeles Angels formally released manager Phil Nevin. Although the team hoped to let him play out the season with the squad, this move was anticipated for some time.
The Halos will now have to look for someone else to take over as this club’s manager and deal with the mess that comes with it after Nevin leaves. Since 2014, the Angels have failed to qualify for the postseason, and things appear to be getting worse every year.
Some thought it was the right thing to let go of Nevin, while others backed his employment. One of his players even publicly disagreed with the decision to fire him, according to Sam Blum of The Athletic. His players appeared to like playing for him.
The Athletic was informed by a current Angels player that “it wasn’t his fault the team ended up in this position.” Therefore, I fail to see why we should let him leave.
According To The Athletic
The Angels’ season-long inconsistency in play denied them the opportunity to be competitive this year. Despite winning just 73 games, they were fourth in the AL West division.
“Changes are made when there is a loss,” Minasian stated. That contributes to it. We’ll follow that procedure and investigate every possibility. We’ll take the required steps to improve this site to the fullest extent possible.
According To The Athletic
For years, the squad has been among the lower echelons of the league, and to make matters worse, two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani is probably going to leave the franchise this winter. If they don’t make any significant changes, his leaving will only make them fall even farther.
We shall learn a lot about the Angels’ future course from this winter. Though it might be the best course of action in the long run, the team doesn’t want to start over. This summer, the Halos have several important questions that need to be addressed; if they don’t, they’ll be relegated to the middle of the pack.
