United are planning a January transfer for Inter defender Federico Dimarco, but the Serie A standout will cost them £50 million

Supposedly, Manchester United is thinking about making a January transfer window offer for Inter defender Federico Dimarco.

United will be aiming to add reinforcements during the upcoming transfer window after a shaky start to the current campaign.

TeamTalk claims that left defender Dimarco has impressed coach Erik ten Hag and has been added to the club’s shortlist of targets. However, Manchester United will need to give Inter about £50 million ($61m) to get them to part with their star player.

Since United have been without Luke Shaw since August, and it is unknown when he will return, they see the 25-year-old as a solution to their injury issues. Meanwhile, fellow left back Tyrell Malacia has been sidelined all year with a muscular ailment.

Although Dimarco has risen through the ranks at Inter’s junior academy, United may encounter competition if they try to recruit him.

He had loan stints with Ascoli and Empoli before signing a permanent move with Swiss club Sion. The move only lasted a year, though, before Inter recalled him and sent him back out on loan to Parma and Hellas Verona.

Since the 2021-22 season, however, he has been a mainstay in Inter’s starting lineup, and his impressive play has attracted the attention of rival clubs such as Real Madrid and Napoli.

United will try to push through some injury concerns in order to beat Sheffield United on Saturday in the Premier League.
