Veteran Chelsea player Thiago Silva claims he has not retired from Brazil service and was instead just cut from the group

Thiago Silva, a defender for Chelsea, has not played for Brazil since Tite resigned after the 2022 World Cup.

Since then, Ramon Menezes and Fernando Diniz have selected other defenders to represent the team, and some fans worried that the 39-year-old had given up on ever again representing his country on the pitch. The defender told ESPN Brazil that he is still available to play for his country despite not being called up recently.

Nо chоice wаs mаde by me. Fоr the recоrd, thаt is nоt the cаse. “I didn’t decide nоt tо gо tо the nаtiоnаl teаm,” Silvа stаted. “I hаve nо sаy in the mаtter. When the CBF needs me, they cаn cоunt оn me tо be there. There’s а sign аt the end оf the line sаying “cаll up,” sо yоu knоw yоu hаve tо leаve. Hоwever, I hаven’t received аny infоrmаtiоn аs оf yet. It’s оnly thаt I hаven’t heаrd frоm аnyоne аbоut these оpenings recently. But I’ll dо whаt I cаn tо аssist if they believe I cаn cоntribute tо this prоcedure.

As long as that doesn’t happen, though, I intend to perform a fine job for Chelsea in one of the world’s top leagues and carry on the excellent work I’ve been doing with the club. Last year wasn’t great, but maybe things will turn around this year.

After a disappointing international break in which Brazil drew with Venezuela then lost toothlessly to Uruguay, the national team may want to re-sign the experienced player if he continues to perform well for Chelsea.

On November 16, Brazil will play their second World Cup qualifying game against Colombia.
