‘Way better’… Tony Cascarino now thinks club have replaced £62m Chelsea man with superior player
Marc Cucurella was acquired by Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion during the summer transfer window of 2022.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea paid their Premier League opponents approximately £62 million to get his signature, making it an expensive agreement.
Brighton signed Pervis Estupinan to replace Marc Cucurella, who left the position, and Tony Cascarino believes the new player is even better than the former. On July 1, 2024, at 06:27, the former Chelsea striker discussed the two players on talkSPORT.
Cucurella is out of commission due to injury and won’t be returning until next month.
Pervis Estupinan a better player than Marc Cucurella
Cascarino asserts that Estupinan is a superior football player over Cucurella.
The talkSPORT analyst remarked of the two left-backs earlier: “I think he’s way better than Cucurella.” I believe he is well ahead. He is a considerably more capable, physically strong, and threatening full-back and wing-back. If they had to sell him, I believe they could receive between £60 and £80 million for him.
“If someone truly felt they needed that kind of [player], I think they would pay it.” I adore what he brings to a group. He’s among the greatest, in my opinion.
Chelsea need more from Marc Cucurella
The information presented above is not entirely surprising. Since coming to Stamford Bridge, Cucurella has hardly made headlines.
Not even has he established a solid starting position. You would expect much more from the Spaniard for more than £60 million, and Chelsea needs much more after spending that type of money.
But this season, the former Brighton player has proven his worth. Given all of Chelsea’s full-back problems, his versatility as a player at both left and right back has been helpful.
Regretfully, though, he now fits into that category. Mauricio Pochettino has found it to be a major source of trouble.
Reece James and Ben Chilwell, two important English players for Chelsea, are absent, which is likely part of the reason the team has suffered so badly this season.
