Upon realizing that his goal for Chelsea had been scored against Brighton and Hove Albion, Levi Colwill ceased to celebrate.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea were hoping to get back on track against Brighton after another disappointing start to the season.
In the 17th minute, the Blues took the lead thanks to an Argentine player named Enzo Fernandez.
It took Colwill less than five minutes to double the lead from a corner kιck.
Upon realizing he had scored against Brighton, Colwill halted his celebration and held his palms up sheepishly as he dashed off with his hand in the air.
While on loan to Brighton for the 22–23 season, Colwill was a rock for the Seagulls defense and had a number of great games.
Chelsea kept Colwill from leaving during the summer transfer window, despite the AMEX club’s best efforts to bring him back to the south coast on a permanent deal.
He has since established himself as an integral cog in Pochettino’s defensive machine for the upcoming season.
Taking to social media, Colwill wrote: “To Brighton and Hove Albion” upon departing Brighton. I am pleased with myself for contributing even a little to the club’s victory last year. You were the only one who saw potential in me and offered me a chance to play in the Premier League.
“I have to give a shout-out to Graham Potter for introducing me to the club in the first place, and to everyone who works at the stadium and the training ground for creating an amazing environment for me to play my best and grow.”
“The fans, you’ve been there for me through thick and thin! Your unwavering encouragement since I joined the side has given me the confidence to play my game without worrying about what others would think of me.
You offered me the chance to play in the top league in the world, where I could showcase my skills. The fact that you stood by me will always be with me. Finally, Roberto De Zerbi, I could always count on you to test my mettle. Because of you, I now view football from a new angle. You are too kind for words. Thank you one more. LC.”
