On Friday night, Lionel Messi created even more history when he was the only player to present the Ballon d’Or trophy at three different clubs: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami, naturally.
On October 30, the 36-year-old attacker defeated Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to win the coveted Ballon d’Or at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, setting a new record.
Messi, who led Argentina to a historic World Cup victory in December, has had an incredible year.
Before Inter Miami’s club match against New York City, Messi gave the “Golden Ball” to the sold-out DRV PNK Stadium audience in celebration of his most recent solo achievement.
The Major League Soccer team chose to honor their number 10 with a match known as the “Noche d’Or” to cap off the 2023 season in America. It was quite the spectacle prior to kickoff.

Messi made a rousing speech to the Inter Miami supporters, promising that things will be “much better” next year.
He said, “Thank you for being here and for this wonderful honor.” “I find it quite lovely that I can share it with you. Even though I’ve only been here briefly, it seems like I’ve been here forever.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone in Miami for the way they have treated my family and me over the past few months, including those who are not present in the stadium.
They’ve been really friendly to me and have helped me feel at home. I feel really at home in this place because there are a lot of Latinos there. Thank you very much; we’re doing great here.
Thanks in part to Messi’s genius, Inter Miami won the Leagues Cup title back in August, their first-ever trophy.
During his Friday presentation, he talked candidly about both the future and that historic victory.
“Even though we’ve only been here for a short while, we’ve already accomplished something really significant—winning this club’s first title,” Messi continued.
“We went after it because the club needs it, so it’s really crucial. For us athletes, our performance matters for what lies ahead in the upcoming season. And why not the opportunity to compete in a major competition?
“As I stated at the outset, I was positive that we would enjoy ourselves and have fun. And just like at the beginning, I am confident that the upcoming year will be much better.
We’re going to continue having fun and winning championships. And we truly need your support, so perhaps you will join us like you have done for the months that I have been here. It was wonderful to have you nearby.
“Next year, as I mentioned previously, we have important tasks to do, and we have to do them together. Many thanks for it. Good night.
