Wolverhampton Wanderers’ match against Chelsea will not include Enzo Fernandez

On Wednesday night, the Argentine was removed for after 32 minutes of the West Londoners’ quarterfinal match against Newcastle United, managed by Eddie Howe.

After coming off the bench, Fernandez hurried into the tunnel at Stamford Bridge. However, he would later return to the bench to watch his team advance to January’s last four, where they would face Middlesbrough.

After the Blues claimed that Fernandez was unable to continue against the Magpies due to “illness,” Pochettino has provided more information on the situation in the lead-up to the Blues’ trip to Molineux.

The midfielder will sit out Sunday’s match in the West Midlands due to a hernia, according to the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

“Enzo (Fernandez) is going to be out of the game against Wolverhampton,” Pochettino informed officials on Friday. As quickly as possible, we will determine if he can be involved again.

You are already aware that he was unwell and that it was a hernia. Together with the doctor, we will administer treatment.

In my opinion, it won’t be an issue. I anticipate his return to the group as quickly as possible.

The midfielder may be able to make a triumphant return to Chelsea’s matchday roster for Wednesday night’s encounter with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, since Pochettino seems certain that Fernandez’s problem is not significant.

The 2023–24 World Cup winner has started 16 games for the Blues in the Premier League, scoring twice in their most recent triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion.

After joining the 2021 Champions League champions for £107 million in January from Portuguese powerhouses Benfica, Fernandez has played in 42 games, scoring three goals.

At Molineux on Christmas Eve, Chelsea will get a boost from fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia’s recovery from an ankle ιnjury he sustained in September. Lavia is poised to make his Blues debut.

Unfortunately, Reece James’s fitness news is less encouraging. The right-back is expected to miss up to four months of action after undergoing a hamstring operation.

When they travel to Wolves on Sunday afternoon, Pochettino’s squad will be hoping to win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since October.
